DADDY’S HOME 2 could be more cohesive and take more advantage of its story. Even better, the plot problems are resolved by overt acts of love inspired by the Christmas season. The production values are good and the acting appropriate for a comedy. Will Ferrell plays Brad, who works hard to gain the respect and affection of his two stepchildren, Megan and Dylan. Just as he begins to feel he’s making progress, he learns that Dusty , the children’s muscle-bound, motorcycle-riding father, is coming to town. If you want to explore toxic masculine pride in family life without being asked to applaud it with your laughter, try The Meyerowitz Stories , directed by Noah Baumbach .
Ambrosio was successfully hidden in her scenes to avoid exposing the fact that she is a model, not an actress. John Cena was also credited as returning in his cameo role as well, but I never saw him, though the other characters acted as though he was there. What drowns out the comedy though is the sentimental storyline around a personal tragedy being lived out by one of the family. The angst and nasty back-biting that surrounds this I found neither funny nor pleasant.

Then, that's where the fun begins with Brad and Dusty's parenting is being criticized by their own fathers with Gibson's tough love parenting vs. Lithgow's sensitive compassion parenting comes to play. —I haven’t seen it and don’t plan to, because it looks terrible. But with that said, people need to read reviews before seeing movies like this. Will Ferrel mostly does movies that are made for adults.

The result is a surprisingly tame outing that never takes full advantage of the stars' talents. It’s too bad that Bad Moms sets up its conflict as one between women. The heart of the film is lost by formulaic tendencies and its overbearing insistence on being funny.
